What’s Wrong with The Ketogenic Diet.

way you’re probably wondering oh my gosh by the title of this video is Lee Ann not eating high fat anymore this is not about that this is about changing people’s minds about what a ketogenic eating style is and how eating high fat can apply to more people than just people that want to eat ketogenic or Adkins or low carb there’s been a lot of chat in the media lately about how ketogenic eating styles are like the worst thing and it’ll ruin your health and there’s all these adverse reactions like death and kidney problems and gastrointestinal issues hair loss lack of concentration we chat about this before you can make science really do whatever you want it to do so if you want to prove that a ketogenic eating style is bad then you can find documents about how ketogenic eating is bad if you want to prove that it’s the best thing since sliced bread which that is the worst thing ever because sliced bread is probably the worst thing that ever happened to us or bread in general but that’s for another conversation if you want to prove that it’s the best thing ever then there’s science to support that so this video is not gonna be about like science blah blah blah this is just what we’re doing when it comes to high fat eating may not be optimal and here’s what we can do to make it super awesome based on my own experiences and working with hundreds of clients all over the world in my one in one spark sessions and selling mic book the keto beginning these are people that are doing it and using a whole food approach to ketogenic and high fat eating and totally rockin it now a lot of the sciency stuff out there and the adverse reactions were based off research from the epileptic community and the epileptic ratios for ketogenic eating can be or has the potential to be a lot different than approaching a ketogenic eating style for everyday health so that’s something to take into consideration when you’re reading some of those articles now here’s the problem that I have with the standard ketogenic or what I like to say high-fat eating style this might be a generalization and so I’m saying that right off the bat but a lot of the stuff that I see online is a lot of products that come out of boxes like bars and protein snacks and shakes and as a holistic nutritionist and somebody that’s been practicing whole food living for over eight years I have a slight issue with that a lot of the times in the high fat community all intake really goes out the window Dairy is eaten a lot and here’s the problem that I have with Dairy Dairy is made like breast milk is created to grow a baby three times its size in a very short period of time so by eating dairy especially when we’re trying to get to a natural body fat percentage and body weight is that we’re eating dairy that sends a signal to our bodies to grow a bunch and then we’re hoping that we won’t gain weight like even that in and of itself is just ludicrous and what I see a lot of is that the quality of ingredients are quite poor and there’s no real focus on densely nutritious foods what I’d like to propose and how we can really rethink the ketogenic eating style is a couple of things the first is with my approach all I’m asking is that you be okay with fat that you cook with fat that you don’t skim the fat off things that you are okay with eating high fat meats and if it’s cooked perfectly the fat should just like melt away and be beautiful and so that’s the first thing it’s just my message with high fat eating it’s just no matter what you’re doing start being okay with the idea that fats are good and sugar is bad and that brings me to my second point is my approach and something that I highlight quite heavily in my book the keto beginning is that sugar is not your friend and by eating this way about eating a low carbohydrate I thought eating style is that sugar should not be part of that situation even when it comes to fruit we can get all the nutrients we ever needed from vegetables alone my approach to high-fat eating is also giving our bodies the opportunity to heal by removing dairy by focusing on Whole Foods we’re setting our body up to remove those toxic estrogens from plastics and soy and those sorts of ingredients so that we can set the stage for beautiful hormones and natural hormone regulation my approach to high-fat eating is about timing your carbs so it’s about not being afraid of like carrots and sweet potatoes and too much kale but really timing that so instead of having all your carbohydrates in the morning perhaps move them to the afternoon after a workout and have a big bowl of kale and so it’s really about timing your carbohydrates so that you can continue to thrive on a high-fat low-carbohydrate eating style by using beautiful glorious Whole Foods and vegetables to get you there by eating a high fat eating style that’s ketogenic but that focuses on Whole Foods we have a beautiful opportunity to connect to our bodies and with the meal plan that I include in my book and program you follow it for 30 days and you figure out what you liked what you didn’t like what worked for you what didn’t work for you I’m the ingredients that made you feel weird so that you know how to create an eating style that works best for you it really sets the stage for the ability for you to actually listen and trust your body cravings are eliminated or very much reduced because you’re not relying on carbohydrates for that fuel so it’s a steady energy and you can make healthier choices while I give information about how to test for ketones and all that stuff I’ve met countless people that become so obsessed with it this is not conducive to a healthy relationship with your body or your food and it’s been months since I tracked my ketones and really I know and I feel good I know and I don’t I know what being in ketosis feels like and if there’s days that I’m not in it I don’t stress about it because that’s life it’s okay in one of the Articles that slightly bashes the ketogenic eating style it talks about a optimal eating style being one that has micronutrient saturation with a focus on anti-inflammatory foods or removing the foods that cause inflammation and I really feel like you can create a ketogenic high-fat eating style that does all of those things but also keeps you in a mild state of ketosis and allows you to balance your hormones so it’s not an all-or-nothing thing life is about living and so it’s just how can we create this balance so that we can determine what works best for us not be afraid of fat eat a bunch of whole foods and be awesome what I love about my book and that is why I created the keto beginning is that I wanted to create a Whole Foods resource for people that loved Whole Foods want to eat high fat benefit from ketogenic eating and understand their bodies a lot more so by following my 30 day meal plan I hope that people are able to see that they can eat greens and they can have vegetables and they can put sauces on things that are made with whole foods that use gorgeous mayonnaise that’s not from vegetable oils and a real focus on quality ingredients so that you can make this a lifelong practice but I hope through all this you can pick what you want from what I’ve shared with you today and create a style that works best for you and if you like this
