What Mayo is “best”?


hi I want to talk with you about mayonnaise in the past I have used an ene s that is sugar-free that is very popular across the south but it’s made with canola oil and soybean oil and the more that I learned about these seed oils these processed vegetable oils the more I know that they are incredibly inflammatory and really not a good option and so I’ve been looking at various mayonnaise commercial mayonnaises and time to see what are good options for me and my family if I don’t make them myself you know homemade mayonnaise is really easy to make and I do have a new Manny’s recipe in my newest book keep their living day by day out in late May of 2018 so Keenan living has some mayonnaise recipe that we enjoy but if you’re not gonna make your my own mayonnaise and some people simply will not make their own mayonnaise then what commercial brands are a good option well I like to use prime omeiette this is not an affiliate link I don’t get any money for doing this but this has been the brand of mayonnaise that really enjoy it’s made with avocado oil it doesn’t have any sugar soy free canola oil free dairy free gluten in Granberry so I really love the flavor with the epicotyl oil but I got a bad batch or two or three actually bought three bottles of this and it was slightly brown and really was not the quality I was used to so I’ve cleaned up throwing it away and it’s quite expensive and I had to order it online it’s not easy easy to find you can’t find a often a Whole Foods so I like this but it’s hard to find and it’s very pricy the total fat on this is 12 grams of fat it has I’m trying to look up there’s a breakdown it has 1.5 grams of saturated fat it doesn’t give me the mono unsaturated fat or the poly and such that so this is not a bad option for me but it’s hard to find and like I said I got a really bad batch and when you spend $30 on three bad jars I am done with that myself now what we want to do is find a commercial mayonnaise that is sugar-free not made with canola oil and not made with soybean oil preferably we want something made with avocado oil or olive oil so I was in this store just today and I found this mayonnaise made that Kraft which is you know pre ubiquitous brand pretty easy to find and it says avocado oil mayonnaise so it was really hopeful and I picked it up let’s take a look at the label so the ingredients in this are water and a cutter oil canola oil soybean oil vinegar eggs modified food starch egg yolks and it does have sugar mustard flour blah blah blah so I thought well it has avocado oil it doesn’t necessarily have sugar in it the carb count is less than one the total fat is four point five now keep in mind that the avocado oil version I really like has 12 grams of fat zero carbohydrate and no sugar this has the modified food starch but it has the icky oil the canola oil and the soybean oil so I said let me take a look around this was about $3 for this really large jar so I’ve noticed this avocado oil may have made by chosen foods and I thought let me take a look at this some when we look at the ingredients avocado oil egg yolk filtered water organic whole eggs organic distilled white vinegar it’s looking pretty good until we get to that angry next ingredient and it’s number seven or eight organic honey Organic mustard organic mustard seed a rosemary extract salt things like that it’s 11 grams of fat it is saying zero card so it’s a fractional carb and on it look at the breakdown it’s one point five grams saturated fat one point five polyunsaturated that and 8 grams of monounsaturated fat said the saturated that’s a good thing the monounsaturated fat is a good thing and 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat to be honest even though this has honey in it it has all good fats all good oils and probably I’m going to select this over this because I don’t want those yucky seed oils then the honey and this is minimal i mince them this brands are Kensington so this is chosen figs this is Kraft this is primal which I said I’ve loved in the past but I got a bad batch so I’m kind of done with them and what I got in Kensington let’s look at the ingredients avocado oil egg yolks water lime juice distilled vinegar organic sugar salt mustard actually it says mustard flour I don’t know what that is and black pepper so when I look at the nutrition on this 11 grams of fat said equal to this one it tells me 1.5 grams of saturated fat zero trans fat which is quite good one point yeah 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated that and 8 grams of monounsaturated fat for carbohydrate it lists fountain 0 just like this one said in terms of the quality of fat with the avocado oil mayonnaise and this out of the oil mayonnaise it’s really the same now I know there’s a fractional carb and the serving if this is one tables thing when they just verify a table yeah a serving is that this is one tablespoon so assuming the taste is similar either of these is really a better option than this because of the inflammatory oils now again not everybody pays attention to those seed or I do recent research that I’ve heard presented by dr. Kate Shanahan talking with the neuroscientist dr. David dummy men talking with Nina Tai Shoals author of the big that surprised each of these people really talked a lot about how inflammatory these oils are and how they do damage oxidative damage at a cellular level so even though you can’t see the damage it’s they it can be there so I’m trying to be careful with my health if I’m erring on the side of really my mute an ounce of sugar or honey in this case honey and all of those seed and vegetable oils I’m not gonna have this one I’m gonna default to one of these now these are not an expensive on sale this one was around six or seven dollars which is quite crazy and this one I think one of them was on sale one was around ten and one was around seven so it was expensive it is less expensive to make your a mayonnaise so I would encourage you to do that and like I said I have a mayonnaise recipe in the new book keep in living and so certainly you can use that as a resource and maybe I’ll share it here because the technique of making mayonnaise is important but it’s super easy and super inexpensive even using a more expensive I have a kado oil with more expensive than olive oil you could make a drug mayonnaise this size for probably two to three dollars so there’s a lot less expensive to make it yourself I think it’s just as tasty but if you’re one of those people who won’t make your name mayonnaise and that’s certainly a lot of us who are busy these not necessarily endorsing these brands but these are okay and when you’re looking at ingredients you want to stay away from canola oil stay away from soybean oil but you really want is something they have an avocado oil olive oil high lake sunflower oil that’s okay look at the type of fat avoid the polyunsaturated if you want to go more for saturated fats monounsaturated that’s and the lowest that you can get and sugar or honey I hope that this video has been helpful to you as you choose an DNA’s for you and your family
