what’s up guys it’s Jamie Messina here and today we’re going to talk about what this wish effect thing is that everyone keeps talking about in the ketogenic diet so the wish effect is very common and it’s something that happens to a lot of people in the start of their ketogenic lifestyle and if you’re like me and somebody says wish effect you’re like what the hell is that so let’s think of your fat cells each individual fat cell as a balloon now over the years you’ve really filled up this balloon with dessert carbs candy and whatever else it was that you’ve been doing over the past years I don’t know so those fat cells they like their little comfy home they’ve moved in they’ve taken over and they don’t want to go anywhere I mean why would they you’re awesome all of a sudden a new you comes along start eating keto already to like rock your life and start starving your body of glucose all of a sudden you start losing fat and quick now this kind of confuses your body it’s all where did all that fat go that’s been living here for so long I bet you it’s coming back I think I’ll just hold this spot for them by filling up the cell with water until they come back and join us again you see your body has no idea that you’re all keto badass now and it really wants to hold onto the weight cuz what happens if you run out of food and you starve and it doesn’t have all that fat stored for you now we know that’s not gonna happen it’s 2018 and if you’re watching this on YouTube you’re not gonna start so our brain knows and now we just have to fill our body in on that knowledge so here you are a couple weeks into your ketogenic lifestyle while proud of your progress you’ve been sticking to your meal plan all excited and can’t wait to step on that scale and see your results so you do you step on the scale you’re all excited to see and you’re like it appears to you like you’re not seeing any progress like you’re not losing any wait and so that discourages a lot of people at the beginning of their journey you’ve been working hard and when you step on the scale and you’re like what happened you might think that you aren’t doing something right or maybe this isn’t working for you but here’s the deal your body’s in the process of making some serious changes and we just need to give it a little bit of time for it to catch up to us trust the process get excited because your body is on the verge of realizing what the heck’s going on and is about to be like oh this girl’s legit she stopped the carbs she stopped the sugar and all that fat that moved out isn’t coming back that’s fun right so as your body starts to realize that the fat isn’t coming back it starts to release all that water that it’s holding in place of the fat in yourself so your fat cell begins to slowly fat flatten out it starts to flush all that water it’s been holding on to and just flatten and that my friends is the whoosh effect just one thing I want to mention to you guys before I leave here today is that as you’re releasing all that water as your fat cells release that water it’s super important to just replace your body with a replace the electrolytes that you’re losing as you wish out that water so that’s why it’s so important to stay hydrated to drink electrolyte water I use electrolyte tablets and pills that I take to make sure that I am replacing those in my body so that I don’t feel any negative side effects of that would affect that’s going to look so amazing on you and peace out that and all that good stuff so if you have any questions on that I will post a link to some electrolytes in the notes below but that’s the whoosh effect so don’t get discouraged if you’re doing the right thing you know that you’re following the ketogenic diet and you don’t feel as if your progress is matching your efforts just give it a minute your body needs to catch up to what you’re doing and all of a sudden you’re gonna wake up one day and be like damn alright guys that’s what I have for you today that was the wish effect I will be back here again soon to talk about something else we’ll see if you have any suggestions let me know have a good day bye
