Prepping For Hurricane Dorian | Keto Hurricane SNACKS

hey guys so I’m throwing together a very quick very last minute video today very quick because we’re in the midst of preparations you could probably tell by reading the title but this video is about hurricane prep I am in South Florida it’s it’s in South Florida my whole life and part of being a Floridian is knowing that very likely every year you’re gonna have at least one storm that everybody’s gonna panic over and they are gonna have to get ready for now you’d think that since we know hurricane season is every single year beginning of June all the way through the end of November that it would just be a regular an accepted part of life that every year we should start preparing early collect water collect supplies just kind of keep everything in stock and that way when storms roll around we’re ready to go you’d be wrong we’ve had enough false alarms and like big scares that turned out to be nothing that we’re all kind of jaded in Florida and so until the things basically on top of us nobody really does anything to prepare for hurricanes and so you see that the storms coming the storm is coming it’s almost here and now suddenly all of the stores are out of water all of the gas stations are packed and out of gas it happens and now everybody’s scrambling and in panic mode because they’ve gotten nothing so we are maybe two or three days away from getting hit with hurricane durian I’ve already filled up my car with gas and we’ve got water stored up so we’re good as far as that I’m actually going to take some ziplock bags and I’m going to fill them up and freeze them flat with water from our reverse osmosis filter and that’s gonna be not only to help keep everything in the freezer cold in case power goes out but as it thaws fresh drinking water you’ve got to think ahead we also of course got water and supplies for our pets medications for ourselves the first aid kit stocked with the basics these are all things that you should just have on hand any but like I said we’re all last-minute planners here in South Florida I don’t know what the rest of the state is like but I’m speaking about south florida specifically yeah wait these are all things that we just had to acquire within the last like 48 hours stuff I’ve got here is basically snacks that I’ve cut for myself not just the whole no running water potentially it’s also the fact that power might go out power usually goes out and then it goes out sometimes for days sometimes for weeks the last big storm that hit us here was Irma and that was in 2017 and depending on what part of the city you were in further north where I was staying in our brother-in-law’s house we had power within two days I think but down south here at our house we didn’t have power for almost two weeks so we’ve been a lot of time in my brother-in-law’s name so yeah so no power so you have to keep in mind that you need batteries for flashlights you better have your phones charged and if you have any of those extra like plugging any power things like what are they called I don’t know those like standalone little power banks those things we’ve got a few of those we’re gonna charge those all up and leave them aside in case we need them because you know we’re gonna be super bored but actually it should be saved for like emergencies if you have to call someone I’ve collected every one of my old phones and like half working iPads and I’ve charged all of them and I’ve downloaded like ‘yo gabba gabba and Bubble Guppies a Niihau kai-lan and stuff on it so that my son has stuff to do in case the power goes out so I mean there’s not at least but as I was saying these are snacks that I have procured because if the power goes out cooking is not going to be a thing so a lot of people pre cook stuff leave it in the fridge and the power goes out that’s the first thing you eat you get a propane for the grills outside and you can keep cooking outside but me I’m a simple girl this will do we’ve got chichay on I’ve never tried these but they look interesting they’re chocolate-covered almonds and sea salt they’re vegan paleo no refined sugar no cane sugar no dairy no gluten no soy etc etc one ounce has six net carbs I’ll take it got some pepperoni more chocolate why don’t I get so much chocolate this is Lily’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups again no milk no soy obviously it’s got peanuts these are three net grams of carbs for two pieces so that’s not bad haven’t tried those yet either though a bunch of beef sticks this is obviously not enough food to get me through like a week but it’s enough for a couple days hopefully this worm doesn’t hit us that bad it’s expected to impact us at like a category three or something and that’s pretty bad the Floridians don’t really start to worry until we get into cat for cat 5 category which is like just the most ridiculous thing know that I’m hearing it and like saying it out loud but it’s just a way of life down here hurricanes are just part of the Floridian experience so we’re freezing water we’ve got our first-aid and our medical stuff we’ve got snacks we’ve got flashlights and the batteries that power them I think we’re ready hopefully I’m not forgetting anything although I very likely did because I’m recording this really really quickly but if you are a seasoned hurricane veteran much like I am and you have a little more time to think things through let me know in the comments what else I forgot or if you have any advice or tips that could be helpful for I don’t know maybe I’m you transplant somebody that just came to Florida and this might be their first hurricane what would you suggest that they should have to either make themselves more comfortable to I don’t know survive let me know in the comments thank you very much for watching this video if you liked it please give it a thumbs up I’d also love it if you would subscribe and click the notification mail because I post at least three times a week and your putting one in this minute thanks again for watching and wish us luck bye [Music]
