KETO UPDATE – DAY 4 – + BRUSSELS SPROUTS – YUM or YUCK?


hey everybody I’m Stacy not bill today is day four of our keto lifestyle so far so good so far not as bad as I thought I was going to be giving up the sugars and the carbs yeah same here same here yeah where I am trying brussel sprouts for the first time today I like him look bill made them the way he likes them just steamed with butter and yes osco sells them in a little bag and you stick them in the microwave for six minutes you put a little butter and salt at least for me and it works out really well and I like them it’s almost a little wetter and I’m afraid with Stacey’s texture and consistency issues she was investigating other ways to cook broccoli so I saw a roasted Brussels sprouts and some of the ladies at work gave me some suggestions so I got the fresh Brussels sprouts right casco and here is mine now it’s a little overcooked I think a little browner I guess not necessarily overcooked feels like there’s a little bit of crunch should they have a different texture and consistency and I’ve honestly never tried these you put some sea salt and olive oil olive oil big deal even for like 25 minutes so we might have to tweak that a little bit it doesn’t smell horrible it looks better than his no you know and I’m kind of curious to try a roasted one like that you know we’ve been doing some kind of like mini meal preps where we made some I made some chicken thighs and I put them all into the containers and then I measured out approximately 2 ounces of like walnuts to put as a side thing for some fats and then yeah absolutely well for me we’re actually doing pretty good we’ve been making the changes our cabinets look very different our refrigerator looks very different everything in there is like for now you know my littlest daughters kind of going a little crazy like what do I eat but although she was very excited the other day Oh Stacy me I made a Fathead pizza yes we didn’t have the burritos so we kind of instead of doing this tomato sauce we did garlic and butter garlic butter yeah so it was almost like a cheese bread instead of a pizza but oh my gosh it was so it’s not really good in my daughter Julia is also very picky yes I tried to let her be but you know it happens she asked if she could taste it and I said of course I think because I made it she really wanted to taste it yeah and she loved it so she even asked for there was like another half a piece left she goes who could you say that for me for after school tomorrow exactly sure sure say that she asked me the other day yesterday if she can participate in the foods that were eating so I’m really excited that she’s willing to try I think with me trying some of the different foods I told her that we tried the avocado even though I didn’t like it at all and then we were gonna be trying Brussels sprouts so I’m excited you know I really am trying to find some foods especially green vegetables yeah I love broccoli we had steamed broccoli with cheddar cheese oh not too much of a fan of that it wasn’t bad I ate it but I prefer just uncooked broccoli for me what I have to do is I have to use like the car manager and put it in for how many ounces we got the food scale out and that doesn’t leave the counter at this point and we you know tear out the weight and then we pop what we want on so we’re getting pretty good at measuring food I can almost eyeball almost the exact counts at this point after four days that’s pretty good yeah I’m so struggling to get to and I’m not gonna worry so much about it I think for me cutting out the sugars and the carbs has been huge I’m not craving them as much as I thought I would so that’s been big for me but I’m not making the macros that they you know suggest for me as far as the fats and the carbs in the proteins I’ve been under a week but I’m not hungry that’s the thing so you’re supposed to eat oh you’re you know satisfied and I think personally its portion size because I’m hungry so I do try and limit the portions if I’m having to meet I’m keeping it to like six to seven ounces at the max because I don’t want it to go over and turn into sugars and you know we’re working on it I think to work or maybe it’s gonna be more I think I’m gonna try the in a minute fasting I think that would work well for me and I don’t think I will struggle with that too much so I have to do a little bit more reading on that but before they get cold yeah I usually try these buses crap yeah well these are the way that I make them again with just some butter they’re steamed butter and a little bit of salt so do you really know I’m excited to try yours you know no no no you don’t want that yeah that’s like the one okay get like a true big ones the smallest one little bit I’m not praying the whole thing oh my goodness let’s give me a long video all right so you gonna be like chew this and like are you just gonna try and just swallow it whole she actually didn’t even really she was like I chewed and then it came right so let’s let’s try this so have you say I know what this tastes like what’s real good that’s got that Keri butter okay that was a fail well I think again it’s because it’s it’s a wet um consistency is wet it’s a steamed vegetables everything like that so well it’s the consistency I so good I’m hoping so we’re gonna put that to the side but I’ve never tried a roasted piece of Brussels problem and this has olive oil and salt on which I’ve got em they were done I just do butter it’s all okay we’re using that Kerry butter from Costco yeah yes this works makes it very convenient cuz I work at casco so they don’t I get to shop afterward I got off of work yeah I know I was closed and make it took do my shopping I tell people who got the secret Costco haul it’s the scope so I a text her name like hey babe when you’re done could you pick up some eggs some bacon some you know you know alright so so let me get a piece of this to a nice roasted piece here this was kind of good a good Brown roasted to it and let’s give it I’m not so worried about it I like Brussels let’s give it a try still kind of wet but but different because it’s ya know it’s still in my mouth and I’m not crazy man I think I like it first for a difference just a little bit it’s a little different and it is that tolerable for you that’s maybe some Parmesan cheese or some other Parmesan cheese or garlic I think some garlic might be good garlic mixed in with that I think I’m down for that these I would not eat them steam steam like my husband and my daughter loved um but I would eat them this is not bad I think I’ll take it in my dinner tonight when I go to work yeah and you know being only date for obviously on Saturday will weigh in we’re also going to try for the first time well the second time but we tried them on day one just the little ketone strips to see if we were India obviously we’re not because we just started so we’re gonna try it at the one-week mark on Saturday so you’ll see a way in to see a ketone strip we’ve also been doing the electrolytes everyday and everything so thankfully no wonderful it has to make sure she’s getting all those extra salts and things especially we’re not eating as much yes you know but I’m filling out my car but we’ve been actually getting really close to getting there macros and stuff that we’re supposed to be yeah it’s working out pretty good pretty simple no headaches the electrolytes have been helping yeah and the bullion and things of that nature I had hurt burn either yeah so many people say hey this is avoidable but so many people stop because they get that Quito flu or something and I’m certainly no expert we’ll see but so far so good yeah doing it you know everything I’m planned and and she’s been investigating so many recipes that hate just to try after trying to fat head it was wonderful bill does most of the cooking so but I like to bake so we’ve got some recipes of course I tend to go to the dessert recipes a little bit more than that’s fun food but there’s some chicken the girls at work have been very supportive I did try wild-caught cod Wow I said they’re making me try it I actually did like it she had not too specific I don’t know what if that’s how you pronounce it this is spicy there’s a slice and there really like the seasoning of it I tried a piece of asparagus it was roasted that actually wasn’t so bad I’m so I’d like to do that again here at home is once I didn’t like it but that doesn’t mean we can’t do something to it maybe the difference like here the boiled versus yeah cuz yeah that I did this I don’t know I don’t want to say smoky but it had a flavor that was you know a little bit different little charred kind of like aged yeah it kind of gave the different I saw it a little bit of it was softer but it still had a little bit of crunch to it the other thing I love raw cauliflower and at work I’m funny I like cauliflower yet she’s one of the girls had a baked I’m not sure how she did it but it had some seasoning so I thought I would like it I couldn’t get past it and they were all they were chanting chew it chew it and making me swallow it so I got it down but I won’t do that again definitely raw veggies for me is the way to go yeah and you like celery stuff you love celery it’s the crunch I left the crunch of everything so and there are a lot of things still on our list that we want to try and things that we eventually plan to buy and use we’re still kind of learning our way around we kind of both thought what would we do with cream cheese and we’re learning you know and as we look up recipes we said oh we need this one thing or we need this one thing so it’s gonna take us a while before we get everything I just been putting it in the Amazon list and then each week there are two more things or something a little way off a little bit this point but it’s okay because we’re not going on the other things that we used to buy buying it for the first time if you don’t have almond flour you have to buy almond flour yeah get that three pound thing from Kirkland from Cosco and now we have almond flour so that’s something we don’t need next week yes that’s definitely nice it’s not as hard as we thought it was gonna be I’m certainly not hungry I think it’s kind of ironic that they say you know oh I’m actually like wow I’m baking this morning yeah but struggle for me in the morning Bill’s been making us bacon and eggs every morning I don’t always want to eat in the morning so again I think that fasting will work well for me you never know but we would want him to do that either with something that I’ll try I’ve done a little bit of reading the keto Facebook boards have been great a lot of the channels that I’ve seen out there YouTube they definitely both of us watching wonderful I’ve got some really good recipes there’s a few that I said oh can you share that recipe with me please yeah so she lists for like you know the next grocery run or something go find what was the arrowroot flour was nothing psyllium so Amazon Amazon sorter fits me Amazon I really want to look at that little thing tells you how many things you’ve ordered for the year I don’t anymore may be in trouble but anyway I’m so Saturday we’re gonna do our first official weigh-in excited we’vewe’ve harris scale the scale is not in the bathroom when we weighed in on Saturday morning which was four days ago we will not weigh in until Saturday morning we’ll make that video first thing and I’ll upload it so it’ll be up probably by midday Saturday by the time I get done anything it and get it up but we’re doing that on purpose because I have no idea where we’ll be with the strips I have no idea what will be with the weight I can feel a difference in my clothes I don’t know that we would see pictures picture differences at this point but you don’t give me a month or something maybe we will check in with some pictures yep a little embarrassing doing the first set of pictures but you know what you guys start somewhere yeah we have a goal that we’re working towards to be healthy and lose weight along the way we’ll be fantastic yep I need to buy new clothes like you know like also restrictive in this and feeling that I thought I would miss my wheelchair Pepsi yeah but okay so yeah I’ve just been drinking the water our we have a reverse osmosis so our water is fantastic it’s got minerals in it yeah we’re using the electrolytes and then like you’re like from Amazon what are some of the suggestions what are some of the things you guys drink yeah other than just waters which we do drink a lot of water we always have but you know sometimes you want a little bit of flavor I’m not gonna coffee and I’m working on different alternatives for the coffee you know no like tea but I used to put sugar in it so we try to what was it monk fruit with monk fruit stevia a type of a mixture of a packet like a Splenda packet it was very it was very strange I tried it in coffee didn’t like it monk fruit drops weren’t as bad and swerve was pretty good closer to you know like a sugar right right yeah I’m still working on that I’m just not drinking as much coffee but it would be nice to sit down and have something with dinner it’s a little different than just about some people use you know I’m the lazy Kido or just in general just monitoring things they’ll use a diet pop I’d like to try to stay away from that yeah I’d like to try and stay away from that but if we like to try something maybe some lemon in waters yeah we’ll be a little bit challenged at the end of the month we’re scheduled to go down to Indiana for a family visit in I think we could do it I think we could do it well you know you get a burger you take the bun off of it and you just eat the hamburger and stuff and you get the fries and get a vegetables are gonna be most places are accommodating yeah in the morning when you’re sitting at the table and you’re waiting for food you just eat the butter well anyway you’ll see a Saturday and you’ll also see the weigh-in and all the other things we just talked about so thanks for stopping in with us I’m going to eat both of these obviously are you okay well you mean training should be the whole tray of it so you’re gonna eat the roasted as your portions like a three ounce portion or something you can eat knowledge my steamed because I have a whole big bowl but that I made upstairs that wasn’t that good yeah was not good I’m sure nobody else loved it but I’ve been doing the meal plan thing where I put out six trays and I make meals for like the next three days it helps me so much because by the time I realize I’m hungry I want food right now so right now he means right now I mean within five minutes and I want to go out there prepare and cook and so it’s making it easier and we’re cooking bacon in the oven a little easier Wow now like my little crisper so I put it in the pan for probably about three or four minutes after my eggs are done and all the bacon yeah yeah yeah yeah so anyway check back with us see how our journey is going yeah cross my fingers but so far so good so yeah good
