hi guys welcome back tonight we are going to be making a delicious homestyle recipe called Monterrey sausage pack and we are going to be using our new key to fight baking mix that we showed you how to make on Friday so if you’d like to come along with us so the reason that we are going to be using a recipe that is including a baking mix is for number one convenience of course I don’t know about you but I’m a child with the late 70s early 80s and there were entire cookbooks dedicated towards baking mixes such as this quick because of the convenience and the ease that helps busy weeknights you know preparing food for your family and using a baking mix as part of that so that you can get food on the table in a hurry so that’s one of the reasons and then the other reason is because you know this quick type mix that comes in a box it is has a long shelf life but it doesn’t have a lot of whole food ingredients so when we made our keto fied baking mix it has whole food ingredients that you can feel a lot better about serving your family but they aren’t really necessarily going to know that it’s a ketogenic product so let’s go ahead and get started the reason that we are going to be have a lot of whole food ingredients so when we made our Kiev I’d baking mix has whole food ingredients that you can feel a lot better about serving your family but they aren’t really necessarily going to know that it’s a ketogenic product so let’s go ahead and get started okay so I have already cooked up one pound a Volks pork sausage and I just got mine in you know the the white Styrofoam container shrink-wrapped in the meat department but you could also use a tube of sausage just needs to be one pound and I did mine sweet Italian and sweet just means that it has majorem in it now that has sugar in it and then we are going to also need about a half a cup of onion the recipe the original recipe called for quite a bit more but it’s fairly high in carbs so I cut that down and then also about a cup of chopped red pepper and about a half a cup of chopped fresh mushrooms and I have already sauteed these until they were wilted just to blend the flavors and kind of pre cook them a little bit so that’s what we have left over and so I am going to take an 8×8 pyrex dish and you could absolutely make this in a pie pan I would suggest at least a 10 inch because when I made it previously I have a smaller pie pan and it tended to overflow so that’s why I’m going to go ahead and make it in an 8 by 8 so you can use whatever size dish that you would like but I have greased this with my coconut oil spray so I’m going to put our meat in there and I’m going to season everything when we get the meat and the vegetables in together because I have not seasoned it yet of course the sausage has a little bit of season just ain’t no way I’m going to put our vegetables in it’s nice and colorful with that red pepper in there I’m just gonna kind of combine it all now the seasonings that I’m going to be using I’m going to use a little bit of my 21 seasoning salute because let’s face it I put that on Broadway I’m also going to put just a small dash of crushed red pepper because we like it a little bit spicy but of course tailor that to you and your family’s needs if you don’t if you don’t like it spicy then go ahead and omit that part and then I’m also going to add some ground sage and sage is very good for bringing out the flavor of sausage a lot of times sausage will already be flavored with sage but I just like adding a little bit more just to really round out that country flavor so I’m just going to stir that in and then I also need just a little bit of salt and pepper and some black pepper which will probably make me sneeze okay then I’m going to set this aside yep okay and I’m going to be using my little mini food processor for the next step but you can just use a whisk if you want and I’m going to be putting three eggs in there and this is this step where I’m going to be putting our baking mix so that we have Kito fide so I have here in my container the knockoff four Bisquick only this one is Kido and we had our video where we showed you how to prepare that and I’ve already used some of it for the trial Monterey sausage pie that I made so we need about 3/4 of a cup of this and I’m just going to go ahead and put that directly into my processor so that everything gets processed together and then to that we are going to add about a cup and a third of cream and then we’re just going to whirl everything together so I’m just going to roll that up so that’s just nicely incorporated now I have two cups of shredded Monterey Jack cheese and of course you’re welcome to use whatever kind of cheese you want but this is Monterey sausage pie so I thought I would use that and I’m going to put this on top of our meat and vegetable mixture and I’m just going to stir that in and kind of incorporate it and we will put some more cheese on the top of our sausage pie the last few minutes of cooking but if we do it too early then it just gets really brown and we don’t necessarily want that so I’m going to take my world baking mixture eggs and milk and I’m just going to pour that evenly over the top of our pie and we are going to put this in a 400 degree oven and it’s going to take about 25 to 35 minutes depending on your oven and depending on what container you use if you use a thicker container it’ll take a little bit longer if you use a container that’s a little more spread out it would take less time so you just need to watch your oven so we’re going to put this into our oven okay so our pie is almost completely done I have turned off the oven and I’m going to sprinkle on top our reserved cheese so that it will melt but not get too done so I’m just gonna slide that back in the oven and let our cheese melt and then we’ll be ready to take it out here’s the finished product now we’re just gonna let it sit for about ten to 15 minutes before you serve just to let make sure everything’s solidified so this has cooled for about 15 minutes or so and I am just loosening the edges and I’m going to cut a piece or c.j to dry and this does solidify the longer it sits and overnight is actually best if you can make it ahead of time because then the flavors really meld together and it sets up really well this would be a really good breakfast idea since it’s kind of like an egg pie there we go it’s the only red pepper in there yummy cheese’s I CJ we are about ready to film another fabulous taste test so what are you going to be tasting this evening Monterrey sausage pie good job [Laughter] why is it Monterrey is because it has Monterey Jack cheese in it I really don’t think it’s from Monterey California but I could be wrong oh I’ve done it tomorrow yes but you can use a guide cheese you want okay so definitely cheesy lots of cheese it’s good know that it’ll be even better tomorrow really flavorful and yeah that
