Keto Diet – Hypothyroid – Hashimoto’s Disease – My Journey To Getting Healthy Again!


hi guys I’m Mariah Milano and welcome back to dinner with Mariah so I know I promised you guys a personal video and I wanted to share with you some things and some questions that I’ve had for a while now and some things that have been going on with me so I started the keto diet which to me isn’t a diet it’s a lifestyle change I was thin my whole life and in my early 30s I started to gain weight and I have I’m hypothyroid which is a thyroid disease with Hashimoto’s and if you look that up it sucks because there’s no cure I take thyroid medication every day and you have to watch me but at the same time I was misdiagnosed for a long time so I was gaining weight and I wasn’t understanding why you know what I mean so it was pretty frustrating so now I basically eat fruits vegetables proteins healthy stuff I drink a gallon of water a day I feel so much better I love the results but I love the way I feel I exercise I got a personal trainer and I’m addicted to it I love it but I also do enjoy once in a while pizza or Chinese food or whatever I’m craving I changed my lifestyle so much that I don’t even want to eat that because I don’t like the way it makes me feel so if I’m really really craving something I’ll have it just to get it out of my system but then the way I feel after I’m just like okay but it doesn’t limit me in any way I have lost a lot of weight a lot of inches I’m probably the healthiest I’ve ever been I never really discussed it with you guys you guys really didn’t know what was the reason but yes I’m hypothyroid with Hashimoto’s which is the autoimmune disease it is serious as far as if you don’t know how to deal with it but I have it all under control I am really really happy and I wanted to wait to share with you guys who I was like 100% and I have been on this journey I would say on and off for almost a year now and I’m gonna put a link in the description below on the keto diet to see what it’s all about personally it’s a lifestyle change for me it’s not a diet and it’s not askin so you don’t just eat bacon and cheese and meat all day you eat a lot of vegetables fruits berries it’s very healthy people have a misconception on the keto diet and they say oh that’s bad for you oh no if you do it the right way it’s not I also work closely with the nutritionist so it’s very healthy if it’s done right so basically you still get to eat a lot of meat vegetables fruit but you don’t want to eat all that sugar which is actually really really bad for you for anybody and with keto as well you have to read labels because a lot of stuff that you eat that you would never think about the ingredient is so bad there’s hidden sugars GMOs antibiotics like all types of fillers that are so bad for you that you don’t even know because it’s just something that we eat all the time and I’ve learned that and it’s been a journey and I’m really really thankful I’m very gluten intolerant so it will cause flare-ups so I have to really cut out gluten completely I’m not gonna say I don’t still eat gluten once in a while I do but I try to avoid it as much as possible and I feel like now there’s so many gluten-free options some of the things that I substitute because I love rice rice is like one of my favorite foods so I make cauliflower rice and you could buy it right in the grocery store pre-made and in my opinion it’s I’m super satisfied and I make like a fried cauliflower rice with onion egg chicken shrimp and I just make it just like it was fried rice but it’s fried cauliflower rice I’m just super satisfied I’ve even made it for my mom and my stepdad mashed cauliflower and they didn’t even know they thought it was mashed potatoes and then I do zucchini noodles with marinara sauce and meatballs for that pasta fix or whatever and I love it and don’t get me wrong it doesn’t taste like pasta it’s just an alternative if I really really really want pasta or you know tacos or whatever I will have that you know what I mean I also do keto tacos which you do the low-carb tortillas just like you would tacos with the Lokar tortilla then you have a soft taco or burrito and it’s so good you cannot tell that there’s no difference in that and I do BLTs with the low-carb tortillas which they sell at the grocery store they’re like for net carbs they taste just as good as the regular ones and I make BLTs out of those which satisfies my cravings 100% so it’s like a BLT wrap and you can buy cauliflower crust pizza now keto ice cream which is like rebel hollow top they have all these low-carb ice creams you put whipped cream strawberries blueberries and a lot of restaurants now are offering keto options which is pretty awesome and you could do burgers with no bun which I love basically a burger with lettuce wrapped around it so good I switched my lifestyle I was feeling really lethargic tired all the time my brain was kind of foggy and ever since I changed the way of my eating habits I feel so much like like myself I feel so much more clear fresh more alert a lot sharper because I’m healthy and keto it doesn’t make you feel tired you’re fueled with energy I feel like after you eat you’re satisfied you’re full you’re full a lot faster you stay full longer and you’re not like when you eat something like real starchy and then you will just want to go lay down and go to bed it’s not like that so I absolutely love that feeling and when I travel of course to Europe of course I eat the bread and all that stuff because you have to it’s just so amazing but to be honest then I can’t wait to come back just to get back on my routine you can Google keto snacks on Amazon keto foods and there’s so many products I used to drink a lot of soda diet soda but still soda and now I do the Zetas which I love I mean they’re much more they’re clear there’s no aspartame in them just so many things so that’s what I’m doing nobody else to do it I’m just telling you what works for me and what I love so so check out
