How to Keto – Ketogenic Diet 101 – BPI Sports

what’s up guys welcome to our new series how to keto on this episode we’re going to be talking about exogenous ketones what are exogenous ketones so to talk about that first let’s back up and talk about a ketogenic diet in general on a ketogenic diet your breakdown of calories is going to be 75% from fats 20% from protein and 5% from carbs so that’s a traditional keto diet on a modified ketogenic diet you can involve or you can include more carbs so why is that important on a true ketogenic diet you’re going to deplete your body of glucose basically carbs and the reason that’s important is that when your body is like completely glucose carb free or very very low carb it’s going to start producing ketones and that is gonna be your energy source in the place of carbs so it’s gonna take fat throughout your body convert it to ketones and that’s your new energy source on a modified ketogenic diet you’re still gonna be burning fat you’re still in a high fat burning state but your body is not producing ketones so that’s where exhaustion is ketones come in if you’re following a low-carb diet or your carb cycling you’re still able to burn fat you’re just not at that point biologically or your body is producing its own ketones so if you supplement with something like then you’re getting those eggs inist ketones and that is not only your energy source it’s also helping to fuel that fat burning process so instead of relying on carbs for your energy your mind and your body can use the exhaustion escy tones and that allows you to burn more fat that’s it for this episode see you next time
