Can You Eat Too Much Fat? (On A Keto Diet)

what I’m giving away and what has to happen in order for you to win so today’s question is can you eat too much fat now there’s a couple of things to note when in fact you are eating too much fat you might be on a keto diet you might be just be starting a keto diet and the whole concept here is eating high amounts of fat while eating low amounts of carbohydrates and moderate amounts of protein so let’s go over three things where fat lots of fat can be an issue so number one if you’re eating lots of fat but also eating lots of carbohydrates so the only reason that the body can tolerate high amounts of fats is because the body understands that fat is the predominant fuel source if it’s coming in the body knows that it could expend fat as a fuel source if you’re eating high amounts of carbohydrates this methodology goes out the window insulin levels are going to be higher blood sugar levels are going to be higher and so insulin is going to be higher there’s going to be more fuel stored than if you were to eat lesser amounts of carbohydrates and more amounts of fats so biggest takeaway here is if you’re eating lots of fat make sure you’re eating low amounts of carbohydrates as long as this takes place you’ll be okay the second thing you want to take note of is studies have shown and experiences have shown that eating high amounts of medium chain triglycerides this is a type of fat we have short medium and long chain fatty it’s medium chain triglycerides they’re extremely great for a keto diet they convert to ketones well but if you have high amounts of them okay especially in dairy form you might run into gastric issues you might have some irritation issues you might be going to the bathroom a little bit more often than you would like so watch out for that not saying that you have if you have a lot of dairy you’re going to inevitably have gastric issues that’s not the case but just understand that medium chain triglycerides are the type of fatty acid that’s going to give you gastric distress also another type of fatty acid is polyunsaturated fatty acids okay this is also known as plant-based fats studies have shown especially a study that was done by Phil akin volt Volek and Finney excuse me they wrote the book the art and science of low carbohydrate living and the art and science of low carbohydrate living and performance they did a study on elite cyclists and they found that a high-fat low-carbohydrate diet is effective however when these cyclists incorporated lots of mayonnaise soybean oil okay canola oil into their diets they found that they really couldn’t stomach this high-fat diet they had lots of gastric distress they evacuated their vows a little sooner than they wanted to so this was an issue once they changed this and they moved towards mono unsaturated and saturated fatty acids the gastric distress basically dissipated another thing that you want to take into account is fiber content so you’re on a high-fat diet a low carbohydrate diet what you want to happen is you want your carbohydrate so that you are consuming to come from fiber fiber is a carbohydrate and fiber is going to help to mitigate gastric distress because it’s going to help slow the absorption rate of this fat content that you’re bringing in this is huge ok fiber is a really really really big deal when it comes to the keto diet also we have cruciferous vegetables and we have dark leafy greens these are fermented in the colon really good for the good bacteria in our gastric system so this is something that we need to incorporate and if we are not eating in a fiber then it becomes true that we might be eating too much fat because it might be having a negative impact on our health make sure you get nice amounts of fiber especially in the
