5 Tips On Intermittent Fasting With Keto Diet | Keto Diet Month 2


[Music] what’s up everybody its Dave here report it to you with the integrity hands hey banana five tips on intermittent fasting with the keto diet oh man I just got work Friday it’s awesome hanging out here with you all but yeah this came to my head here because a lot of people are doing intermittent fasting along with the ketogenic diet some people were new to both I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for five years but here’s the tips I learned with the ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting in a way intermittent fasting kind of feels new to me just because I’m coupling it with a very high fat very low carb diet so way I’m eating the way of eating has completely changed for me here and I’m in my sixth week into it this is the second time doing that but tip number one is first of all I’d say just don’t even try to do intermittent fasting the first week don’t worry about it if you want to go ahead but I would say leave the intermittent fasting along the first week while you’re trying to get you know keto adapted and emptying out the glycogen from your standard American diet type of way of eating and while you’re just trying to get through you know that first week were often a lot of you go through you know go through the food so you don’t need the added stress worrying about you know intermittent fasting tip number two I would say is don’t go for the gusto right away you know don’t swing for the fences especially if you’ve never done intermittent fasting now there’s many different ways of intermittent fasting there’s like the five to plan were five of the days out of the week are pretty normal schedule you know start eating in the morning and finish at night or and then two days you know you do the you do like a 23 24 hour fast a really common one is like a 16 by 8 or an 18 by 6 where the one I use more often than not as the 18 hour fast you know by a six hour eating window where I allow all my calories I bring in all my calories in 6 hours a day and of course that kind of moves around a little bit sometimes I’ll get up to 20 hours of not eating sometimes it’ll be you know 15 hours it just depends but on average you get about 17 or 18 hours of fasting by about you know 6 are eating window so that’s a common one so if you’re going to start you know a week to let’s say with ketogenic diet you know you’re bringing in intermittent fasting you know don’t go for these 36 or 48 hour fats right away give it a shot you know try to get a base hit with it you know try to just you know stuff eaten right away in the morning wait till 11:00 or something you know go for a 15 hour fast let’s say you shut off at you know 7:00 p.m. the night before and you know go for 16 hour fast where you go to 11 a.m. the next day you know after that maybe try to do that a few times then increase it maybe an hour some see what works best for you and then every now and then you know you might go for a 24 hour fast or something like that just to see if you can do it but for now I wouldn’t swing for the fences just go for like you know 15 hour fast something like that a third tip and this is probably the most important in my opinion is just don’t stress about it man I mean just like the ketogenic diet don’t worry if you have a slip on you know your macros one day with the ketogenic diet you know get back on track the next day try to learn from itself on it a little bit the same thing with intermittent fasting no matter how long you’ve been doing it and you’re trying to keep your you know get into the ketogenic diet and you know really adopt that as a way of eating you don’t want to stress too much if you can’t make it 16 hours that day who cares you have the rest of your life to to try to make 16 hours the next day or the next day not a big deal there’s just some days where we feel ravenous you know especially if you workout in the morning I workout fasted and this morning was a good morning where I was just like you know I have a department meeting they’re gonna have pizza there I’m gonna go ahead and eat I’m feeling kind of hungry anyway normally what till 12:30 or 1:00 but the meetings from 11:30 until 1:00 so I’m gonna have half my lunch you know before the meeting right around 10:30 in the morning you know so I broke my FAFSA like 15 hours in you know not a big deal play the opportunity to hit my my numbers later on it so that’s probably the most important tip tip number three don’t stress about this stuff it’s not a make-it-or-break-it type thing no big deal fourth tip I’d say is to drink tons of water I mean that’s a good thing to do anyway where if it’s just you’re trying the ketogenic diet and you’re not even bringing in the intermittent fasting you need a lot of water we tend to dehydrate a lot easier on a very high fat very low carb diet and your body’s emptying out all that glycogen along with it water and electrolytes and just get your salt and your and your water intake in you know same thing with airman fasting not only that but it can help you feel full in the morning so it might you know ward off some of those hunger pangs so that helps the fifth one now this one has a little bit of debate to involve because it has to do with the bulletproof coffee I drink you know plain black coffee nothing at it because you know sometimes I don’t have like BCAAs which is 20 calories or less but I’ve always heard you know anything about like 25 calories is technically breaking your fast but since getting in the ketogenic diet community I have learned from people like Matt and Megan and others of you out there and actually research them some articles and videos from doctors that you know bulletproof coffee where you have your butter and you know a little bit of heavy whipping cream in there and some MCT oil technically they say it doesn’t break your fast because those things don’t spike your insulin but I come from the school thought hey you’re putting in X amount of calories in this case you know bulletproof coffee probably averages anywhere between 150 and 300 calories depending on how many tablespoons of those type of ingredients you put in there so your body I always thought we’d go ahead and start attacking those for fuel you’re taking those for fuel instead of your belly re being empty and you’re just drinking water or black coffee you know and your body could have continued hitting your fat stores of your body rather than the food that you bring not really food but the bulletproof coffee with the facts so I would say on the fifth tip if you really love your bulletproof coffee go ahead on the days where you doing your fasting on half of those days try to push that coffee out and tell later you know one of the things I do because I love bulletproof coffee now finding that kind of hard to go without because I like it so much but on half the days I won’t have it so it’s kind of a hedge of the bets between two schools of thought you know 50% of the time I’m getting to ride at least and even if I’m wrong and it doesn’t spike your insulin and you’re all good then it can’t hurt anyway so those are my five tips on there mitten fasting with the ketogenic diet and I hope you
