in today’s video I’m talking to you all about my five top keto beginner tips I get a lot of questions on how to make this lifestyle easy and how I’ve been able to sustain it for over fourteen months so let’s jump in [Music] if you like videos like this please consider subscribing and smashing that like button and coming back for more videos just like this on this channel up until about a year ago I did not share anything about diet or food or nutrition or my journey I was extremely sad and depressed and I was putting on weight at a just an alarming rate my doctor didn’t even know what was wrong he said I was healthy everything seemed to come back normal but there was something going on I noticed with my insulin and I actually had to go to a naturopath to find that out now I’m actually working hand-in-hand with my primary care doctor and my naturopath but just regular testing didn’t tell me what was going on so I’ve lost over 70 pounds changing just my food and my drink and I get a lot of questions from people asking especially because I’ve shared this journey and I’ve started now a Keough blog and I put together a course all about it I basically have gotten a lot of questions on how I’ve been able to do it I’m not a doctor I’m not nutritionist but I am just a real-life person or real-life mom who again was in the depths of Darkness when it came to her health how she felt her energy levels and most importantly in the most obvious her weight so I’m put together basically five quick tips for those of you who are on the fence or for those of you who have considered this lifestyle or for those of you who are just not interested but kind of more like what is this all about and and if you’ve tried everything it’s something to consider I heard about this lifestyle this diet way before I even tried it I thought it was a trend I thought it was a joke I thought it was unhealthy but the more I go deeper into this lifestyle and the more I nourish my body with the real foods that are on this lifestyle the better I feel and so that’s why I’m here that’s why I’m sharing that’s the only reason I just am hoping that one person and now it’s been several people who have seen my journey my story can be helped by this so let’s jump in the first tip is to key it’s simple when I first started keto I thought it was so complicated there was a lot of content out there there was a lot of white noise and I thought I had to do all this counting and calculations I guess and I am choosing to keep keto simple some people call it lazy keto it’s just sustainable for me this is a lifestyle this is something that I need to fit into my life as a mom as someone who works someone who is a homemaker takes care of her home and her family I have to fit this into my life right so it has to be sustainable so I have just kept it simple I’ve looked at eating mostly real foods increasing my healthy fats because that keeps me say shaded and counting mostly just carbohydrates and you’d be surprised how many carbohydrates are in food I didn’t even realize the amount of carbohydrates that were in some of the foods my pantry and my fridge and it’s really been an eye-opener even for my family that isn’t necessarily keto we our carb counters now we count cards we look at sugar because I used to think carbs was just sugar but carbs candy carbs in the absence of sugar and refined sugar and processed sugar so sugar is out of the question for me but carbohydrates is definitely something I just look at just start looking at labels that’s one of my first steps just start looking being aware and googling even for things that don’t have labels like vegetables certain vegetables that have higher carbs and lower carbs and it really made a difference and the reason why I have to count carbs is carbohydrates basically spike the the insulin and it raises my blood glucose level and it basically causes insulin to raise my body which causes me to gain weight and feel horrible so you know when you are insulin resistant or pre-diabetic or you have symptoms of these and you not you haven’t been diagnosed you know because some of us haven’t been diagnosed with insulin resistance and or pre-diabetes but we feel those symptoms sometimes we won’t get diagnosed until it’s too late but I digress when you have those symptoms simple changes like this can literally change your life that’s what it’s done for me I want everyone to do their own research of course don’t take my word for it but if you’ve tried everything definitely look into this my second tip is to count carbs that’s basically kind of leading from my first tip I thought that if I had to really calculate everything on a micro level or a macro level I was going to fail I just don’t do well with that I mean there is the carb manager app that I use once in a while but I now mentally track carbs I drink pure therapeutic ketones so that helps me sort of balance everything out if they it basically gives me additional fuel sourcing and it’s really great for my workouts and I I feel like with the peers everybody knows I don’t have to I don’t have to be tracking as carefully and I found those about six months into my journey mentally counting carbs really works for me and I count net carbs and net carbs are carbohydrates – dietary fiber it’s really important that I don’t count the dietary fiber because if I didn’t subtract it I would xx net part of the day which is what keto is I’d be eating nothing right mostly vegetables and I mean a few very few foods can be a total of 20 net carbs so I subtract the dietary fiber and if I eat something with sugar alcohols I’ll subtract that as well so 20 to 25 net carbs and just counting cars has worked for me and it’s made this lifestyle very sustainable okay my third tip is to think of easy meals that your whole family loves if you’re a mom or you have a family just think of meals that you guys are already loving think of meals that you can add an additional grain or additional side to for your non keto family members but also think about how you can make your meals a little bit healthier you know this keto journey has really opened up my eyes to some of the foods that I was feeding my family not to say that I’m like the most healthy organic you know real food Queen but it’s just opening my eyes and it’s a journey this is not something that happens overnight every day I think more and more about you know the foods I’m eating and what I’m giving my family but I will pick um and a veggie and then if my family wants pasta or rice or potatoes on the side they get that so I we think of a core meal that we have we can all eat including me and then we think of sides that we can add without being a short-order cook and we’ve backed cook on Sundays if you’re not following us and watching our fashion like a boss series we actually have a battling like a boss show every single Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and I show you how we make this work for our family it’s a batch cooking method that basically gets us in the kitchen once a week and we don’t have to cook the rest of the week and it keeps me accountable on keto and it makes our life easy so definitely find meals that you all will love and it makes this lifestyle so much more sustainable my fourth tip is to look into doing a reboot monthly or trying out pure therapeutic ketones and what I love about them is that they are natural and biogenic ‘el to what the liver produces when in ketosis they have a hundred percent bioavailability so your body responds as if it created them it’s a truly amazing way to optimize the human body much like a bodybuilder supplements with protein shakes somebody on the ketogenic diet can supplement ketones when your body produces ketone levels on its own your liver has to work really hard taking a ketone supplement relieves that stress and also provides more oxygen to your brain they biohack your body into nutritional ketosis or optimally ketosis within an hour you’ll experience fat loss muscle preservation sustained energy reduced brainfrog increased mental clarity better focus controlling of your appetite strength gain better mood sleep and digestion for me pure therapeutic ketones really helped me when I was about six months into my journey but I wish that I had them in the beginning guys they would have made this transition to the keto lifestyle way easier they also help with the keto flu so if you’re just starting when you’re thinking about transitioning into the keto diet this helps this helps you get off with the sugar and the carb cravings I also do a reboot monthly this is actually from the same company and what it does is it allows me to do a guided intermittent fast I actually get to use bone broth and ketones and I do it for 60 hours it really helps to just reboot my system and it helps me break through plateaus because I’ll be honest some of the plateau issues I have is mostly food aversion plateaus I get into a rut with just not wanting sir because let’s be honest sometimes when you’re on a specific lifestyle you’re cutting out certain foods sometimes it gets a little bit crazy where you want foods again that not even that you’re craving it just that you want them so the rebook really helps me to reset and refocus and it allows my body that that rest that it needs to cut out all those cravings and desires for foods that I should not be eating my last tip is to hydrate I drink probably about double my body weight in ounces I drink a lot of water I also eat a lot of foods with salt and I also use pink Himalayan salt additionally in water because I need to be getting my salt when you’re on the ketogenic lifestyle you need more salt and you need more electrolytes because there are no carbs for all that stuff to hold on to I use the mighty flex electrolytes and I’m telling you I will take one of these I drink it like the shoppings it doesn’t taste very good I put it in a shot glass with some water and I chug it and I maybe I would be feeling some foot pain or some lethargy and I drink it and I feel amazing it’s just a fact we need more electrolytes and more salt on this ketogenic lifestyle and I know it sounds really weird and really counterintuitive but we just do so make sure you’re getting your salt and your electrolytes I have way more videos on my channel all about tips for beginners and how I’ve gone along in this journey so definitely check those out I’ll link them at the end of the video please keep watching this is just one video in my journey one video of tips there’s so much more to this lifestyle but the key is to really keep it simple eat real food eat healthy fats lower your carbs and you will feel amazing I’m telling you and if you don’t find something else but if you’ve tried everything and you haven’t tried this try this before you give up and give up hope thank you so much for watching please
